497 Days of Law-Making in Regenerative Medicine
| DESCRIPTION |
Exactly 497 days after the last meeting of the original London Regenerative Medicine Network, this talk will consider some of the legal and regulatory developments that have taken place during that time. This will include an overview of the Human Fertilisation and Embryology Bill, its passage through Parliament and its implications for research. It will also look at the evolution of policy, ethics and litigation relating to the creation of human-animal hybrid embryos for stem cell research, and the recent transatlantic debate about consent for the use of reproductive cells in such research. The US Presidential race and its potential impact on human embryonic stem cell research will also be discussed!
